Apple’s deadline to require app sandboxing on all applications distributed in the Mac App Store approaches fast, and there’s still no solution to many developers’ problems with APIs not working even though they should with the sandbox.

My apps, Recent Redux and Recent Menu, are especially suffering from the inability to access the Spotlight API. While some indie developers try to find and implement some odd workarounds, others have decided to leave the Mac App Store altogether.

I fully understand the reasons for leaving the Mac App Store, but I still have hope that Apple will soon fix the things it broke with the sandbox. I’ve therefore decided not to pull my apps from the Mac App Store for now, even if that mean that I can’t submit any updates to my apps after March 1.
