The next update to Recent Menu is about to be submitted to Apple in the next days. It is a maintenance update that upgrades Recent Menu to version 1.2.1 and will bring sandbox support to the app. This is a prerequisite for further development of Recent Menu and its distribution in the Mac App Store.

Recent Menu will gain sandbox support by asking the user to allow it to access the local file system. This has to be done only once and this approach will hopefully be approved by Apple. The only visible change to Recent Menu will be in the general preferences pane:

Recent Menu 1.2.1 Preview

Recent Menu will ask for file system access at the first launch of version 1.2.1. Afterwards, everything will work as it is working now. Recent Menu 1.2.1 (and all further updates) will require at least OS X 10.7.4 to run – I’m aware of the fact that this will probably exclude some current users still running OS X Snow Leopard from updating Recent Menu, but I didn’t see any other way to comply with Apple’s sandbox policies.
