You may have noticed that my app Monotony is not available on the Mac App Store at the moment. The reason for this is that I‘ve pulled Monotony from the Mac App Store on August 28 after I received quite some feedback from users reporting strange errors with Monotony.

According to the reports, Monotony would

  • allocate indefinite amounts of system memory, or
  • not present new notifications though subscribed feeds were updated, or
  • only work if no other feed reader app was running, or
  • sometimes work, and then sometimes not.

This was happening to some users, while other users reported that everything was fine. I was never able to reproduce these errors and they didn‘t show during Monotony‘s beta test phases. I take this very serious and don‘t want to sell an app that obviously has a kind of flaw, even if it shows only for a few users. So, until this issue is resolved, Monotony won‘t be available on the Mac App Store.

While after checking and re-checking my code I still don‘t really know what‘s going on, I at least have an idea. Once I will have been able to verify my assumption, I‘ll let you know on this blog. In the meantime, I would like to thank you all for your patience.
